Protectors of Universe DVD review by Wmpyr
This is a Korean cartoon movie which is a KO of Japanese super robo anime.
I have a few of these movies and despite the low budget and bad dub, they have this indescribable charm to them.
A blue skinned pointy eared alien invades the planet Orion.
The people of Orion escape on the Super Express escorted by the super robot called Super Mazinger 7.
The strong point of this anime is that it features a lot of action with this curious Mazinger 7.
You get to see the Mazinger 7 and the Super Express combine to look like some weird Medusa robot, believe me that is a sight to be seen.
Mazinger 7 has what looks like the original Gundam body.
However he can fight very similar to the original Mazinger Z with moves such as the Indestructible fist (Formally known as the Rocketo Punch!) and Boomerang Back pack wings (Mazinger Z sported something similar).
The leader of the bad guy looks like a space Knight, his second in command is a whip wielding S&M looking mistress.
They have a robot that looks a lot like Shogun Warriors fame Raideen that is primarily red.
Some of the guards have blue skin, pointy ears and red mohawks, they are androids that can live in outer space.
The fight scene between the Mazinger 7 and the enemy Raideen is a show stealer with various weapons being used.
Eventually Mazinger 7 ends up on the enemy planet. Our heroes are ambushed but never fear for Mazinger 7 can transform into a tank!
Then we are treated to some tank on tank battle!
Despite Mazinger 7 being one of the most versatile super robots ever made, all our heroes get captured and put into the prison.
The villains celebrate and in a funny moment they have some sexy space dancers come out, followed by a Boxing match for entertainment.
Once our heroes escape, they run around the enemy base having laser gun fights.
Towards the end here we have Mazinger 7 have two more fights before the end.
Mazinger 7 fights a brutish purple robot armed with a spear.
Last but not least Mazinger 7 wrestles with a fire breathing dragon! I mean come on folks where else can you see something like that?
These Korean knock off cartoons can be found for cheap making them extra desirable to own!
Having been the kind of guy that is tired of the mainstream, I really enjoy this kind of stuff!
