CRYPT OF THE VAMPIRE

CRYPT OF THE VAMPIRE
by Dave Morris

Golden Dragon Fantasy Game Books 1984
Berkley/Pacer edition 1986
$2.95 USA

A short and easy read, a relatively thin book that can fit in your coat pocket.
Basically a "Choose your adventure book" that also requires paper, pencil & two dice, but it's possible to read through without doing so.

You are a generic hero that embarks on an adventure to defeat the vampire Lord Tenebron.
The main aspect of this book is to explore a creepy mansion while finding and collecting the right items to make it through the book and to also defeat Lord Tenebron.
You will encounter a hell hound, an elf, giant spider, barbarian, witch and other things that go bump in the night. Personally I wish that there were more encounters with vampire-esque things. A note worthy creative scene is when you encounter an old man to play a game of Chess.

The game is a little hard because there are some blind choices you have to make, and it seems like the only way to get it right for certain is from your experience of having been through both choices.

All in all a fun read, wait until you finally get to encounter Lord Tenebron for the final battle. They did a good job for that scene simply by the way they put the illustrations into the book.

The rare art of knife combat is the heart of the K4S system. No-nonsense self-defense for the street. I tap into a myriad of martial arts styles to concentrate on increasing your skill for knife combat.

Spyderco Delica Review by Wampire

The Delica knife by Spyderco

The Delica and the Endura are the two flag ship knives for the Spyderco company.
The Delica is the smaller of the two making it a very comfortable carry.
Featuring a standard pocket clip and an aerodynamic looking shape provides this utility knife made for EDC, that also has tactical capabilities.

Half and half blade is a combo of serrated and plain edge.

The Delica has a strong solid back lock. The over all feel in the hand and usage is as smooth as it looks.

The ambidextrous thumb hole can be used to put on a hose clamp. I call it the Devil horns, it can be used for striking and hooking it open.

Lapu Lapu Corto Gunting knife review

LAPU LAPU CORTO knife review by Wampire

The LLC was produced by Cherusker Messer desgined by martial arts expert Bram Frank.
GM Bram Frank was a student of Remy Presas in Modern Arnis.
His website is
http://www.cssdsc.com

The LLC is an extremely well thought out tactical knife that is recommended to martial artists.

The LLC is a knife that belongs in the Gunting family of knives.
All Gunting knives have a multi-use ramp on the spine.
You can hook the ramp to deploy the blade, this is called a kinetic opening, there is also a divot on the handle for indexing which allows you to change grips easier.

The Gunting knives follow a strategy called the Force Continuum. This means that the knife is designed to be used closed as a unique palm stick to dispose of the threat with a non lethal impact tool. If for some reason the situation escalates to a more violent scenario you can deploy the blade and now use it as a knife capable of lethal force.

The ramp AKA the Bramp can be used for striking like a hammer, pain compliance techniques, take downs, kinetic opening off of various things including your opponent's limbs, and for ambidextrous thumb opening.
This knife also features a spoon clip, puzzle lock which is an extra strong lock, a curved handle for a better grip, and a persian style blade, zipper like teeth along the handle for gripping purposes, there is also some areas on the handle that have pointy striking areas.
The red knife is a drone for training that has no edge or sharp point. The blue one is called a CRIMPT which is an impact tool with no blade but designed to restrain and apply pain. The black one is the live blade.

My personal review is that if you understand the benefits of palm sticks such as a kubotan, then you can appreciate this knife. It goes beyond just having a glass breaker at the bottom of the handle. I think this is a fantastic knife because it's really two tools in one, a palm stick and a knife.
There are a few negatives though. For example I have been pinched by the lock on several occasions. When closing the knife I wish the ricasso was larger to allow for more finger safety room, especially due to the puzzle lock-for one hand closing, you have to shake it.
Other than that it's an excellent knife and I can see why it won the IWA tactical knife of the year award.

Numerous skulls make up the large Mexican skull style inspired by Dia De Los Muertos.
On top of that it has color changing capability that makes it extra cool.
